Terry Hazen

Terry Hazen is a senior scientist and head of the Ecology Department at the Center for Environmental Biotechnology, part of the Microbial Communities Department of the Joint BioEnergy Institute at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and has authored more than 210 scientific publications. Dr. Hazen received in 2005 the DOE BER Distinguished Scientist Award. His area of specialty is environmental microbiology, especially as it relates to bioremediation, water quality and bioenergy. Dr. Hazen received his B. S. and M. S. degrees in Interdepartmental Biology from Michigan State University. His Ph.D. is from Wake Forest University in Microbial Ecology.
