Paul Davies, British-born theoretical physicist, cosmologist, astrobiologist and best-selling author, earned his Ph.D. from University College London. He moved to Australia in 1990, where he helped found the Australian Centre for Astrobiology in Sydney, then came to the U.S. in 2006. Dr. Davies is director of the BEYOND Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science and co-Director of the Cosmology Initiative, both at Arizona State University. His research interests are focused on the ‘big questions,’ from the origin of the universe to the origin of life, and include the nature of time, the search for life in the universe, and fundamental questions in quantum mechanics. He has written 27 books, and won the 1995 Templeton Prize for his work on the deeper meaning of science.
