This beautiful collection of images depicts the Milky Way from the Southern Ocean Coast in Australia and was posted on Vimeo by Alex Cherney. Complete description can be found here.
Here is what you are seeing according to NASA:
Dark clouds flow across the sky, sometimes from different directions, sometimes blocking background starlight, but other times causing stars to appear to flare as they move in front. In the first sequence, looking toward the southwest, a nearly vertical band of zodiacal light is seen at sunset just before the band of the Milky Way Galaxy appears to settle into the sea. Soon the unusual dark patch of the Coal Sack Nebula can be seen on the Milky Way band, near the famous SouthernCross. Later, looking toward the southeast at about 2:10 in the video, Orion can be seen rising appearing nearly perpendicular to how it rises in northern skies.
Really nice work Alex!

Stunning, just flat out stunning. With scenes like this I alway think of Neil Diamond’s song, “Be,” and the lyrics:
Lost
On a painted sky
Where the clouds are hung
For the poet’s eye
You may find him
If you may find him
The “him” here specifically refers to Jonathan Livingstone Seagull.
Awesome, Amazing, Wonderful work.
Certainly would like to know about the technical side of this video. Camera, HDR?, #shots per frame, etc etc.
Congratulations on a GREAT piece.
Amazing. How did you do that?
I love it.
Non ci sono commenti che poossano esprimere le emozioni che provocano le immagini di questo video. Potrei rivederlo ancora e ancora , ma non mi stancherei mai!
