Deborah Byrd

Deborah Byrd – EarthSky’s founder and president – wants to reach a billion people around the world with the words and insights of scientists. Byrd created EarthSky in 1991. She’s lead producer for the company’s science podcast series – now in 90-second, 60-second, 8-minute and Spanish formats – and you’ll often hear her voice as a host on the various audio products. She’s also editor-in-chief of this website. A science communicator and educator for 30+ years, Byrd believes in science as a force for good in the world and as a vital tool for the 21st century. She knows scientists have a lot to say, and she is honored to help them say it. Byrd has won a galaxy of awards from the broadcasting and science communities, including having an asteroid named 3505 Byrd in her honor.
