Image Details:

Taipingshan is a famous mountain in the northeastern part of Taiwan. It rains all year round. Even if it doesn't rain, it's often cloudy and misty. On the night of November 1, I was on Taipingshan and saw the waning gibbous moon just rising from the top of the mountain in a cloud and mist. I found that there was a faint halo around the moon. Gradually, the color of the halo became clearer and clearer. It was a large lunar corona with very bright colors. Because the water droplets in the fog are relatively small, the radius of the lunar corona is larger than usual! So I immediately took a photo of this rare large lunar corona with the only mobile phone I had at hand. The slightly exposed mountain top below showed that this lunar corona was really very big. As the mist drifted away, the brightly colored large lunar corona quickly disappeared. A halo of bright colors like this in the sky is so mesmerizing.
