I took this shot from the Mauna Kea Visitor Center. It was a clear night, although there were many people in the vicinity with the same idea. Even at this altitude of 9,000 feet, the amount of traffic and the lights from the car coming in and out made it a bit tricky to capture a good shot. I had to increase the ISO to 4000 for the bulk of the Milky Way to appear. In this photo, the Milky Way is framed with two cinder cones - Pu'u Kalepeamoa and Kilohana. Both these cinder cones are popular sites to watch the sunsets. Have you been to Mauna Kea yet?
