For the past few weeks large numbers of Greater White-fronted Geese and other birds have been migrating south. Often, young of the year birds don't have the stamina to continue on and drop out of the migrating flocks. At the Yaquina Bay these two Greater White-fronted Geese grazing in the photo are among those that dropped out.
I do hope these young of the years make it through the winter. [Information on migrating geese courtesy of Oregon wildlife expert Roy Lowe.]
