Brown Pelicans on top of the rock at the marine research reserve area by the Pacific Ocean. They are common visitors here during spring, summer and fall. I have been seeing small flocks of them flying south. I read that they fly to southern California and to Mexico to winter and to breed. In the photo the ones with bright yellow and white heads are adults. The brown one flying to join them is still a young one. Before they reach maturity brown pelicans are entirely brown.
