With storm clouds at my back, I watched for a rainbow. At first, I thought I was looking at a Circumhorizontal Arc until I saw that the sun was only at 39 degrees, it needs to be at least 58 for that arc to appear. I think there are supernumerary bows on the left side, but what struck me the most was the aurora-like effect of this low bow and the darker band above it. Is it just virga creating the effect of something else? Whatever it was, it is perhaps one of the more unique rainbows I've seen.
