Pleiades, nicknamed Seven Sisters in Greek mythology is known as Krittika in Vedic astronomy. Vedic mythology recognizes only 6 stars in this cluster, most probably the bright ones visible to their naked eyes, and assigned to them the role of wet nurses to Kartikeya (god of war) from which the name Krittika comes. Though I found their names on the internet (Śiva, Sambhūti, Prīti, Sannati, Anasūya and Kṣamā), I couldn’t, however, find out which one was which!
I would have appreciated if some Vedic astronomy site could have named the 6 stars referred to as Krittika.
