I really enjoyed watching the courtship ritual of the Great Egret. Those long, lacy feathers grow out during mating season and are called “aigrettes.” Their lore also changes color from yellow to brilliant lime green.

I observed this pair performing a ritual where the (presumed) male brought a stick to the nest and “offered” it to its mate.
