A pair of house finches (Haemorhous mexicanus) are surveying the area looking for a nest site. They inspect the lanterns and drainpipes which are covered from the rain by a canopy of roofs. The nest is built only by the female, although the male accompanies her in flights for building material. This female breaks off a piece of a twig, while the male at this time sits nearby.
