I'm standing on the summit of a dormant volcano cinder cone overlooking the caldera. The Santa Clara volcano is in front of me. It's privately owned and being mined for road construction material. Altitude above sea level is around 4800 feet. It is one of a handful of recently active volcanoes in North America. Recent as being 27,000 years ago since the last eruption.
