Green flash at sunset over the sea of Tripoli, Libya.
Monday, February 21, 2022.
Green rays or green flashes are an optical phenomenon that is sometimes observed for several seconds after sunset or before sunrise, when the appropriate conditions for observation are met. A green spot appears on the upper edge of the sun’s disk, and it may appear in the form of a green ray emanating from the sun’s disk at the sunset point.
Sometimes, when the air is particularly pure, a sufficient amount of blue or violet light rays pass through the atmosphere and produce a blue flash instead of a green flash. However, green is the most common color captured in photos.
