After listening to an inspiring discussion between Ken Libbrecht (professor of physics at Caltech) and Gavin Pretor-Pinney (Cloud Appreciation Society), I dashed out this morning to photograph snowflakes in our -8C degree temperature. With the added bonus of freezing rain the snowflakes collided with cloud droplets resulting in rime coated snowflakes. This one landed on a spruce tree.
