Image Details:

While I was out for a walk on a high neighborhood road on this late winter afternoon, this cloud deck over Utah's Salt Lake Valley and the changing light kept drawing my eye. I took a couple of photographs; this was my favorite. The open sky is on the western horizon, so I continued watching as I drove through Bountiful, a northern suburb of Salt Lake City. and ultimately decided to wait for the sunset beside a small lake on the east shore of much larger Great Salt Lake. The peak to the right is the summit of large Antelope Island, which is a state park in the lake. The cloud deck arrived with a light breeze that pushed out a light inversion haze, some of which is still visible in the distance, between two mountain ranges; the Oquirrh Mountains are closest to the left, and the Stansbury Mountains are farther away.
