Standing next to a vent cone, I was able to capture the cone and the twin pit on the Mauna Iki Trail in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This is about 3.5 miles from the Mauna Iki Trailhead off Hilina Pali Road. The trail takes you through sand dunes, lava beds, enscarpment, cones and crater pits. Its heaven for a field geologist!
