While walking neighbor’s dogs, I spotted a glint of red in a pine tree. Upon closer inspection, I found this ladybug. However, she did not provide any legendary good luck; moments later, the dogs wrapped their leashes around my feet and I went tumbling to the asphalt—bloodying my hand and reminding me of my mortality.
