I have visited this amazing forest many times over the past 40 years - I've never seen anything like this and hope you can identify it. There was a band of fog hanging over the South Fork of the Eel River in the background, but blue sky overhead. We were cruising through the forest with the top off our Jeep - cold but spectacular! John D. is 10,000 acres of virgin redwood forest - the largest track left in the world and never touched by logging. Many of the trees are over 2000 years old and over 300 feet tall. The canopy contains plants and animals not found anywhere else. One of the wonders of northern California!
