Cropped, combined

Yesterday I saw a relatively rare event: a great blue heron was successfully hunting for a rodent, probably a mouse. It flew to the roadside warmed by the sun, slowly walked for a rather long time, and suddenly got into a hunting pose and quickly pecked. Then it walked to a secure place with the prey in its beak. It put the prey on the ground, and took it in such way that the prey's body could be placed along the beak, and finally swallowed it as is, with the fur. It took only 2.5 minutes, and everything was done by the beak.
At the same time, on the opposite side of the road, a hawk was sitting low on a tree (see it on my previous photo), from time to time flying to the ground, but it was not as lucky as the heron.
