I've been wanting to take a picture of the Drift Creek Covered Bridge but was concerned about the harsh sun at it's zenith when I had the chance to go the location. I think the image turned out okay. I like the weeping cherry in bloom on the left, the couple walking by the stream on the right. Built for the most practical reason-so as to avoid fording a river, a covered bridge has its charm and the nostalgia of long ago years.
The 66 foot (20 meters) Drift Creek Bridge in the image above was first built in 1914. Since then and wending past its long history, through the monumental efforts of a local family, the covered bridge was relocated and reconstructed over Bear Creek stream. This same kind family who owns the park-like property where the covered bridge is now situated has given the public easement for heritage purposes for all time.
