The Double-breasted Cormorants have recently returned to our area. They travel in flocks during migration & nest in colonies. There are dozens on this little island where a bald eagles nest was located until this season. Even though the nest is somewhere else, this eagle still likes to hang out on the island. I caught him flying in and chasing off the cormorants that were on his tree. In the inset photo there is a juvenile cormorant in the water.
