Nikon D750, Sigma 14-24 mm lens @ 18mm, f 2.8 ISO 6400, 15 second exposure
Photoshop for foreground exposure, increased contrast in sky
With a bright moon illuminating the mid-night sky before moonset (glow on left side of image), I was photographing a modest display of northern lights directly to the north over the Ottawa River, when I noticed a strange "streak" in the northwest. The camera revealed what appears to be a display of STEVE, which lasted about 10-15 minutes. The northern Aurora display of green and purple continued for about 90 minutes, until it was covered by clouds.
