This crescent of the moon on the last day of waning fortnight marks the day of great celebration all over India, the Festival of Lights, called Diwali. It celebrated the victory of Light over darkness. Millions of candles and oil lamps will be lit up tonight. This celebration is done on the 14th day of the waning fortnight of this month called Ashwin in Indian almanac. It is interesting that it falls also on the 14th of November this year!
