Wyalkatchem Community Resource Center

Wyalkatchhem is a town located in the Wheatbelt Region of Western Australia. The Wyalkatchem Community Resource Center acts as a hub for community groups, and as part of its offerings provides access to large open areas that can be used for a number of events, including stargazing. Facilities are available for day use, but open areas can be accessed around-the-clock; accommodations are available and camping can be arranged. This part of Australia is thinly populated and the night sky at town rates at about class 4 in the Bortle scale, with class 2 being attained in nearby surrounding areas. According to the person who recommended this location to EarthSky, it is “two hours from closest capital city, and the town is very small, so minimal light pollution.”
