The White River West Sno-Park is located just south of Mount Hood in Oregon. The federal land is busy in winter with snow activities and does not require an admission fee. A large parking lot provides stable ground for telescopes at night. The south side of Mount Hood provides plenty of darkness, sheltered from the city lights of distant Portland.
