Located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, The Lethbridge Astronomy Society is comprised of enthusiastic members from all walks of life, eager to study and share their love of the night sky, astronomy and space science. The Oldman River Observatory is one of the best equipped amateur astronomy facilites in Canada. The main building includes an equipment room with several portable telescopes, a library with over 600 titles, a lounge area and kitchen and a presentation room that can seat up to forty people. Just outside the main building is a viewing platform for our portable scopes and outdoor presentations, plus permanently mounted 14 inch and 8 inch Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes for visual observing.

A separate building on the site, The Rick Ponomar Astronomical Laboratory, has a 5.5 metre dome housing a 35.5 cm Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope, as well as its own presentation room. This room is used for group viewing of live astronomical images captured by a Mallincam video astronomy camera attached to the Celestron scope. Live images from this scope and others can often be viewed on Night Skies Network, a site for broadcasting images from video astronomers around the world.
