Surprise View in England is a spectacular view point above Hathersage, near Sheffield, and is known for being one of the best viewpoints in the Peak District. It is a great spot to sit and watch the sunset, which additionally offers hiking opportunities to a few places from that start point. Surprise View Car Park requires an entrace fee via a pay machine, but is open to visitors 24 hours a day, all year round. A stargazer has shared the following comments with EarthSky: “A really nice, peaceful zone on top of the Peak District with almost no ambient light, bar the cars that go past. On a good, clear night, the Milky Way can be seen.”
