Sedona

Sedona is a grand desert town at the heart of Arizona noted for its mild climate and vibrant arts community, about 116 miles (187 km) north of Phoenix, Arizona. It’s an accredited dark sky community, believed to be a “model city in sustainability and environmental stewardship” by the International Dark Sky Association. Across the desert are a variety of observation areas, trails, and picnic sites that are open for public viewing and provide superb stargazing opportunities. Sedona is also dense with New Age shops, spas and art galleries, surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests. On the town’s outskirts, numerous trailheads access Red Rock State Park, which offers bird-watching, hiking and picnicking spots.
