Purple Woods Conservation Area

Purple Woods Conservation Area is a grand sugar maple forest and open meadow located in the midst of the provincially significant Oak Ridges Moraine, just 47 miles (75 km) northeast of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Please note that while there are no designated stargazing areas, the park is accessible by the public year-round and offers secluded hiking and walking trails, gardens, picnic areas, and more, with wide open night skies suited for gazing. Occasionally, the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority has been known to host evening events here as well where visitors can discover the stars, fireflies and the wildlife who call the sugar bush home. Camping, however, is not permitted here. For more information, please visit online or call the Central Lake Ontario Conservation at 905-579-0411.
