Pinnacle Mountain State Park
November 11, 2017
Pinnacle Mountain State Park is located in Pulasky County, Arkansas and lies just northwest of Little Rock (25 minutes from city center). At a size of 2,356 acres (9.5 square km), it features many hiking trails and nearby Maumelle Park is a popular destination for camping (camping is not allowed inside the state park). Its main attraction is Pinnacle mountain, surrounded by Big Maumelle and Little Maumelle rivers. Central Arkansas Astronomical Society organizes star parties at times and you can also take a star gazing cruise on Lake Maumelle.
A reader of EarthSky reports that the park “Regularly hosts star parties for the public.”
