Pettigrew State Park
November 21, 2018
Pettigrew State Park is located in North Carolina in Tyrrell and Washington counties. It covers 5,830 acres around circling the shore of Lake Phelps and the Scuppernong River. The 16,000 acre lake is popular with boaters on this arm of land that juts into Pamlico Sound. While the park is not open much past dark, it does allow camping for an overnight experience under the dark skies. An EarthSky member says, “It is a maximum night darkness area.”
