Scenic Highway 61 is located in Minnesota and runs along the coast of Lake Superior from Duluth to Minnesota. Only a few small town dot the shore, and parks such as Split Rock Lighthouse and George Crosby Manitou State Parks provide overnight camping. An EarthSky visitor says, “There is no light pollution and many places to pull off of Highway 61 the main road along Lake Superior that runs from Duluth to the border of Minnesota and Canada. All pull offs are off the road so it is safe and you can park for as long as you like to view the night sky.”
