Manipal

Manipal, in India, is a town located 4 miles (7 km) from the centre of Udupi City in the State of Karnataka. A stargazer who is familiar with the site told EarthSky the following: “Recently, I have witnessed the Geminid meteor shower for about 4 hours. I didn’t have a perfect gadget to shoot it, but the cosmic event was just awesome. I would always suggest to anyone that this is the best place to get away from the city life and have a look at the night sky. It’s also the safest places I have ever been so you don’t have to worry about night safety. Rainy season spoils the fun, though, which is usually around late May to early September. Otherwise you can expect clear skies almost every day!”
