Las Villuercas

Las Villuercas is a low mountain comarca located in the province of Caceres, western Spain, about 154 miles (248 km) southwest of Madrid, Spain. Please note that while there are no designated stargazing areas, the mountain range is accessible by the public year-round and offers historical monasteries, secluded hiking trails, open fields and more, with wide open night skies suited for gazing; one EarthSky reader says “the villages in the area are small, with few lights at night and are isolated by mountain ranges, leaving dark valleys between them.” Hotels, vacation lodges, and campgrounds are all available within the mountain town and in neighboring cities.
