La Hija de Dios

La Hija de Dios is a municipality located in the province of Ávila, Castile and León, Spain, with a variety of tourist accommodations and a reasonably dark sky, just 86 miles (139 km) east of Madrid, Spain. Hotels, vacation lodges, and campgrounds are all available within the province and in neighboring cities. However while a beautiful destination for casual gazing, La Hija de Dios is not recommended for serious observations; one EarthSky reader says it’s “far from city, and at 1,300 meters above the sea.” The English translation of La Hija de Dios is “The Daughter of God” and according to a 2006 census, has a population of 78 inhabitants.
