Koontz Lake

A jewel among the rolling fields of the Indiana prairie, Koontz Lake is a small freshwater lake about 131 miles (211 km) north of Indianapolis, Indiana. Please note that while there are no designated stargazing areas, the all-sports lake is accessible by the public year-round and offers plenty of boating, swimming, waterskiing, jet-skiing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking, and wakeboarding opportunity; The EarthSky friend who recommended Koontz Lake says its “clear, dark night skies offers a pristine view of the stars over the lake.” Horseback riding stables are located nearby, and the country roads lend themselves to hiking, mountain biking and nature enjoyment. Even camping is available at a number of sites including RV, tent, and boat grounds. For more information, please visit online.
