Keough’s Hot Ditch

Keough’s Hot Ditch is a man-made water reserve filled with hot spring runoff from Keough Hot Springs Resort up the road, about 148 miles (238 km) northwest of Death Valley, California. Please note that while this is not a designated stargazing area, the spring is located in a desolate desert area and is open to the public year-round, 24 hours of the day. The pool has a long history of people using its geothermal hot springs for medicinal and healing purposes, and is a good alternative for those who don’t want to spend money at the resort or just want to take a quick dip to relieve their aches and pains after backpacking in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Forewarning: public nudity is common here, so be prepared. Tent, RV, and developed camping is available at the resort. For more information, please visit online or call 760-872-4670.
