Fenton Hill Helo Pad

“Fenton Hill is just North of Fenton Lake State Park New Mexico. The Helo Pad is located off Hot Rock Road at the top of the hill and operated by the USFS when in use or emergency First Responders. There is zero light pollution at an elevation of around 8,600 feet. Four-wheel drive is needed for winter weather. Not surprisingly LANL has an Observatory here as well. Easy access off State Road 126. Just follow the road around the LANL tech area, hang a right, pass by the Forest Service building and there you are. Best to check a map as there is a split in the road just pass the tech area that can be confusing. If they restrict entry for any reason there is another area, just off the roar within 1/4 mile past Hot Rock Road on the right, going north, immediately off the road hid from traffic. Not the easiest place to find but worth the effort!”
