Eastend is a small town in southwest Saskatchewan, Canada, situated approximately 34 miles (55 km) north of the Montana border and 53 miles (85 km) east of the Alberta border. Hotels, vacation lodges, and campgrounds are all available within the town and in neighboring cities. However while a beautiful destination for casual gazing, the area is not recommended for serious observations. One EarthSky friend says “Near Eastend, you can find the Cypress Hills Dark-Sky Preserve, one of the darkest, easily accessible dark-sky preserves and one of the largest. Current programming includes astronomy education programs, private and group bookings and an Astronomer-in-Residence program.” For more information, please visit online or call the Eastend Main Office at (306)295-3322.
