Eagle Nest

Eagle Nest is a village in New Mexico (United States) located near the Colorado border at an elevation of 8,238 feet (2,511 m). Situated on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, Eagle Nest is a small summer-home and resort area. Known as the Gateway to the picturesque Enchanted Circle, Eagle Nest is conveniently located near Angel Fire Ski Resort, and Red River ski area, Eagle Nest Lake, Cimarron Canyon, and Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Parks. Fishing is abundant in the 15 square miles of Eagle Nest Lake as well as in rushing mountain streams throughout the Cimarron Canyon, and the area is also a major hub for some of the best game hunting in America. Eagle Nest Lake State Park is located right outside the village, and the area enjoys very dark skies, with a rating about class 2 in the Bortle Dark-Sky scale.
