Dearborn Observatory

The Dearborn Observatory is an Illinois astronomical observatory owned by Northwestern University and operated by the Chicago Astronomical Society, just 15 miles (24 km) north of the world-famous Chicago, Illinois. Home to a historically commisioned telescope and rotating Observa-Dome, the observatory features frequent outreach events, star parties, educational seminars, and is open to the public every Friday evening throughout the year. The Department of Physics and Astronomy also welcomes high school students interested in participating in research, and provides other academic opportunities for graduate students across the country.
