American Prairie Reserve
November 23, 2018
The American Prairie Reserve is located on Montana’s Great Plains around the Missouri River. An independent non-profit organization has privately undertaken a project in northeastern Montana to create a wildlife conservation area of over three million contiguous acres through a combination of both private and public lands. It bills itself as one of the most remote regions in the lower 48. Huts and campgrounds are available for those who wish to stay overnight. An EarthSky member describes the stargazing opportunities as, “NO LIGHTS! Wide open skies!”
