EarthSky // Press Released Nov 11, 2010

Listeners get more science, great music, with weekly release of EarthSky 22

Check out recent EarthSky 22 podcasts.

Beginning November 11, EarthSky listeners will have more minutes every week to hear science news, interviews, and perspectives from the award-winning EarthSky production team – along with great new music. A new 22-minute podcast – EarthSky 22 – will be released to radio stations for download weekly.

Jorge Salazar is the host for EarthSky 22. Michael Brennan is lead producer. Listeners will hear EarthSky reporters talking about science news geared to a global audience. Contributors include Lindsay Patterson, Beth Lebwohl, and Emily Howard, among others, to put interviews with the world’s top scientists in context.  The program also features a weekly look at Weird Science on the Internet with Ryan Britton and Global Night Sky with Deborah Byrd.

EarthSky’s hometown happens to be Austin, Texas – Live Music Capital of the World. EarthSky 22 lead producer Michael Brennan – who is an Austin-based musician – seeks out new music each week to pair with stories of science. Listeners tuning in are guaranteed to be introduced to many bands they might not have heard otherwise. Visitors to earthsky.org will feature more information about the bands, as well as links to more music.

EarthSky 22 is a huge opportunity for EarthSky to expand upon and share what it does best – science,” said Brennan. “And the music adds an important element to the show to keep it feeling young and fresh. I’m looking forward to seeing how the show grows and develops in the future.”

The EarthSky Promise: To bring the ideas, strategies and research results of scientists to people around the world, with the goal of illuminating pathways to a sustainable future.
