EarthSky’s Managing Director Ryan Britton joined former Vice President Al Gore and others today in speaking to scientists about the critical need for scientists to address the public, at a special session on communication at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco.
The session – called Communicating Broadly: Perspectives and Tools for Ocean, Earth and Atmospheric Scientists – was designed to inspire more scientists to communicate about their research with many types of people, for many different reasons.
‘I wanted the scientists in the audience to know that we are here for them,’ Britton said.
‘EarthSky has interviewed thousands of scientists over the past 15 years for its popular Earth & Sky radio series,’ he said, ‘bringing their voices to our large global audience. We also help more than 500 scientists participate in communicating with the public via the activitiies of our Science Advisors. And we encourage guest posts on our website from scientists, about subjects that matter to them.’
