Last night I went scouting a new location for astrophotography. This site is located just outside Vernon, Utah about 60 miles from my home. It's a Bortle Class 2 dark sky and close enough to enjoy a short AP session without spending the night. I arrived at 10 PM and got home at 1:50AM with 2.5 hours total drive time and 2.5 hours shooting time. The closest site is 20 miles closer and is also a Bortle Class 2 site...so this new spot was a gamble. The structure in the left corner is a historic marker about the Benmore Townsite and fire hazard warnings. Looks like I might go out a couple more nights this and next week to some close to home Class 2 spots and an overnighter in the southern deserts for the Borlte Class 1 session this weekend. Clear skies!
