A Great Blue Heron pausing briefly from preening. Adults have long gray-white plumes on chest, neck, and back during breeding. I believe this one is an adult, but not a full adult since his plumes are not too long yet and his upper bill still has dark coloring. The bill of a full adult is uniformly yellow orange in color.
I was happy to see this great blue heron today!
