The waxing gibbous moon at about 97.4% full taken tonight here in Singapore. The moon was at 83.23° E↑ at an altitude of 58.50°. Just shy of a day to the full moon phase, this moon was at a distance from 396,795 km. The camera I had used does not have any special features and just a point to shoot equipment which has a telephoto zoom lens. Despite so far away from us, it is truly amazing to see the plains of the moon. My favourite spot on the moon is Plato which you could see at the left bottom of this photograph. Plato is a lava-filled lunar impact crater on the Moon. Its diameter is 101 km. It was named after ancient Greek philosopher Plato and located on the northeastern shore of the Mare Imbrium, at the western extremity of the Montes Alpes mountain range. Judging from the contributors to EarthSky , Earth's moon is the most photograph as it it visible wherever one is on Earth, it cannot be missed unless it is an old moon or a new moon !
