Crescent Moon and Venus in Volcanic Sunset Crepuscular Rays.
On Friday 24th at 6.13 pm an unexpected pair of faint diverging crepuscular rays appeared above a receding volcanic sunset twilight arch close to the horizon. These strengthened and expanded upwards to produce a beautiful display in which the prominent arm reached both Moon and Venus engulfing them in a strong magenta glow. This amazing spectacle, which peaked at 6.15 pm lasted for less than five minutes before vanishing into thin air.
