Image Details:

On a trail in the woods I spotted first one, then a second Pileated Wood pecker. I followed them around from tree to tree. Until I saw my photos I didn't realize that this one is a male juvenile. The juveniles have brown eyes, developing to yellow as adults. Also the male has the red mustache that this one has.
